Job summary

Brown and Caldwell Affiliate, Executive Director role in California seeks part-time leadership to advance the client's mission with government and stakeholder relationships. This position combines governance oversight with policy leadership and strategic alignment across programs.

The role requires 8–12 hours per week, working with the Board and external partners to influence water policy, sustain operations, and deliver impact while maintaining high standards of governance and accountability.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in a related role.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical, business, or related field preferred.
• Water industry experience and established California network preferred.
• Ability to attend Board and committee meetings across California.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction to support the client organization's mission and long-term objectives.
• Partner with the Board to develop, implement, and advance strategic priorities and organizational initiatives.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on California water issues, policy developments, and emerging trends.
• Prepare and communicate executive-level materials to Board members and stakeholders.
• Represent the organization with member agencies, industry associations, regulatory agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Lead Board and committee meetings, fostering engagement and effective decision-making.
• Support financial and operational sustainability through sound stewardship of resources.
• Represent the client organization at meetings, hearings, and conferences throughout California.
