Job summary

NOVA is seeking part-time Adjunct Faculty to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) at Annandale. Instructors plan and deliver courses, adapt to face-to-face, remote, and online formats, and assess student progress.

Candidates should have a master’s degree in TESOL/TESL or related field, with evidence of teaching excellence, and the ability to work with diverse student populations. Must reside in the DC/VA/MD DMV area and be prepared for variable teaching loads.

Qualifications

• Prior experience teaching in higher education
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
• Significant experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
