Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College invites applicants for Adjunct Faculty - English as a Second Language (ESL) in Alexandria. Faculty teach ESL courses in formats including face-to-face, remote, and online, with up to 12 credits in fall/spring and up to 8 credits in summer.

Adjunct positions carry no guarantee of continued employment. Pay is per credit hour by rank, with Instructor $935, Assistant Professor $1,047, Associate Professor $1,160, and Professor $1,249.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in TESOL/TESL, Applied Linguistics, or equivalent.
• Or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field. Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific ESL classes and develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to NOVA and VCCS policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Maintain current competence in the discipline and field of specialization.
