Job summary

The Woodlands, TX-based Emergency Veterinary Assistant (Part-Time) role at Veterinary Emergency Group invites you to join a fast-paced ER team. You’ll support your team, comfort pet parents, and learn on the job from triage to treatment in a busy emergency hospital.

No prior credential required, but a high school diploma or equivalent is required; enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, transfusions, and meds.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings.
• Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and pursue RECOVER Certification (training provided).
• Grow into advanced roles via training pathways.
