Position Title

Part‑Time EOPS Counselor (Pool)

Position Summary

This part‑time Associate Faculty position at West Valley College offers teaching assignments in lecture‑discussion courses during day, evening, or on Saturday and/or in an online/distance education format. Assignments are needed during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters, and may be coordinated with the Office of Human Resources and the West Valley‑Mission Federation of Teachers (WVMFT), AFT 6554.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is based on a percentage of workload, up to 67% of a full‑time load. The initial hiring salary range is $38,464 – $55,582 per semester, prorated for academic achievement, teaching experience, and related qualifications. Benefits are available for faculty hired under the District’s collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education
    • Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling; OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in one of the above areas AND a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); OR
    • Valid California Community College Instructor’s Credential in Counseling; OR
    • Equivalent of the above credentials.
  • Experience
    • At least two years of occupational experience working with ethnic minorities or individuals disadvantaged by language, social, or economic factors; AND
    • Demonstrated completion of either:
      • Nine semester units of college coursework relating to ethnic minorities or disadvantaged populations; or
      • Six semester units (or equivalent) of a college‑level counseling practicum or field work in an EOPS program or a related field.
    • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
