Job summary

Tidewater Community College seeks an English Tutor in Chesapeake for part-time, on-site support. You will meet students one-to-one or in small groups to clarify learning objectives, reinforce study skills, and assist with basic computer literacy including navigating Canvas.

Ideal candidates will hold a strong grasp of College Composition I/II topics, demonstrate excellent communication, and maintain FERPA confidentiality while supporting faculty initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must have earned an A or B in the course(s) for which tutoring will be performed.
• Effective oral, written, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse student backgrounds and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Meet with students one-to-one, in small groups, or online to provide English tutoring.
• Assist with basic computer literacy: email, documents, Canvas navigation.
• Support instructors and Learning Assistance to improve student success initiatives.
