Job summary

Remington Hotels in Charleston, WV seeks a skilled Hotel Maintenance Engineer to respond to service calls quickly, perform preventive maintenance, and repair building systems. You will handle HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and boiler tasks, read schematics, and ensure guest areas stay functional.

You'll work with a team, communicate clearly, and take initiative to keep equipment running efficiently. This in-office role requires hands-on maintenance and strong safety practices in a hospitality

Qualifications

• Previous hotel engineering experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building construction.
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship; state licensure where required.
• Understand and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Respond to all service calls within half hour from time call is received.
• Accurately and efficiently complete all assigned work orders daily; inform supervisor of incomplete orders.
• Maintain pools, filters and pumps on a daily basis.
• Adjust televisions and program boxes.
• Change light bulbs and ballasts as soon as reported or noticed.
• Replace air filters on AC units on a regular basis.
• Repair vacuum cleaners and return them to service within two (2) days.
• Clean up grounds, garages and parking lots.

• Efficiently adjust televisions and program boxes.
• Change light bulbs and ballasts as soon as reported or noticed.
• Efficiently replace air filters on AC units on a regular basis.
• Accurately and efficiently repair vacuum cleaners, returning them to service within two (2) days.
• Clean up grounds, garages and parking lots.

What we are looking for

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required
• Understand and efficiently maintain and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.

• Physical Requirements (In-Office Role)
• Ability to work in a standard office environment.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. (6-8 hours a day)
• Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
• Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
• Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
• Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
