Job summary

VEG is seeking a part-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant in Overland Park, KS to join our fast-paced ER team and support care from day one, comforting pet parents and learning the ropes in real time. You’ll be there for triage, treatments, anesthesia, and the tail wags that remind us why we do this work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and guide patients toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with clinicians.
• Manage IV fluids, blood products, and medications.
• Support care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Join rounds to maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER training (provided).
• Grow into advanced roles with guided training.
• Work within state regulations as required.
