VEG seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be in the heart of the action from day one, supporting the team, comforting pet parents, and learning in real time. You’ll assist with triage, treatments, and the tail wags, starting a path toward credentialed technician roles through guided training.

You’ll work nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced ER, with mentorship and clear growth pathways to advance your veterinary career at VEG.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AVMA-accredited tech program enrollment a plus.
• 1+ years in veterinary assistant role; emergency experience a bonus.
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Excellent communication with pet parents and team.
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg and work in a noisy environment.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases with vets.
• Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and meds.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings.
• Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER certification (training provided).
• Grow into advanced roles like anesthesia support and ultrasound.
• Work per state law.
