Job summary

San Jacinto College in Pasadena, TX is seeking an Assistant Emergency Manager to support the manager in preparedness, response, and mitigation, including developing emergency plans and guidance. You will help conduct drills, exercises, and community training with CERT and Building Marshal/ Supervisor programs.

Ideal candidates bring office experience, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to work evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and to maintain good working relationships across the College.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed for events and incidents.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
• Familiarity with HSEEP tools and Hazard Vulnerability Assessment methods.
• CERT trained and able to participate in community programs.
• Knowledge of Incident Command System including IS-100.B.

Responsibilities

• Assist the manager, emergency management with the preparedness, preventative, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts including the development of emergency plans, policies, procedures, and guidance.
• Assist in drills and exercises to test all equipment on a regular schedule under supervision.
• Assist the manager with planning, training, and exercising CERT, Building Marshal and Building Supervisor programs.
• Represent the OEM in community emergency management activities such as fairs, events, trainings and exercises.
• Represent the College in trainings, meetings or public outreach efforts.
• Perform inventory, maintenance and management of emergency management equipment including communications devices.
