Job summary

San Jacinto College in Pasadena, TX is seeking an Assistant Emergency Manager to support the manager in preparedness, response, and mitigation, including developing emergency plans and guidance. You will help conduct drills, exercises, and community training with CERT and Building Marshal/ Supervisor programs.

Ideal candidates bring office experience, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to work evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and to maintain good working relationships across the College.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed for events and incidents.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
• Familiarity with HSEEP tools and Hazard Vulnerability Assessment methods.
• CERT trained and able to participate in community programs.
• Knowledge of Incident Command System including IS-100.B.

• Perform inventory, maintenance and management of emergency management equipment including communications devices.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education And Experience

Preferred Education:

• Currently enrolled in an associate degree program or higher in emergency management or a closely related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in emergency management or homeland security.

Required Experience

• Previous experience in an office / administrative setting.
• Experience with emergency mass notification software.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in emergency management, or related field

Licenses/Certifications

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:

• Texas DL with Class B (Emergency Vehicle) Endorsement.
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT or higher)
• CPR First Aid Instructor
• FEMA Master Exercise Practitioner certification,
• Certified Emergency Manager (CEM or similar).
• FEMA Advanced Professional Series certification
• FEMA Professional Development Series certification

Pay Rate:

$16.25/hr
