Job summary

The City of Aberdeen is seeking a Part-Time Emergency Communications Dispatcher to support emergency communications and assist patrol and emergency response personnel. Responsibilities include receiving emergency calls, monitoring radio, documenting information, and relaying details quickly to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to listen to, document, and relay information accurately.
• Basic computer and clerical skills.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Monitor police and emergency radio communications.
• Answer and process emergency telephone calls.
• Gather accurate information from callers and communicate details to patrol officers and emergency personnel.
• Dispatch appropriate personnel based on the nature and urgency of each call.
• Maintain accurate radio logs, call records, and other required documentation.
• Enter and update information in department records and databases.
• Perform general clerical and administrative duties related to dispatch operations.
• Follow established procedures for emergency communications and dispatch activities.
• Handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with officers, emergency personnel, supervisors, and the public.
• Remain alert and organized while managing multiple calls and responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
