Job summary

Chesterfield Township’s Building Department is seeking a Part-Time Electrical Inspector to perform inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installations to ensure code compliance with state and township requirements.

The role requires thorough knowledge of electrical codes, ability to read plans, communicate corrections clearly, and maintain accurate records. Flexibility to cover inspections during normal business hours is essential.

Qualifications

• Must meet State of Michigan requirements to perform electrical inspections.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in electrical trade or inspection is required.
• Valid Michigan driver's license is required.
• Must be able to clear a background check.
• Must possess and maintain Michigan registration/licensing as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform residential, commercial, and industrial electrical inspections.
• Identify code violations and communicate corrections to contractors and owners.
• Review electrical plans, permits, and related documents.
• Maintain accurate inspection records in township systems.
• Coordinate inspections with Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire and other departments.
• Stay current on electrical codes, state requirements, and industry standards.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service while enforcing codes.
• Attend training and continuing education as required.
