Job summary

Athens City Board of Education is seeking an EL Teacher to support English language learners. The role is part-time and exempt, with salary scheduled at $30.00 per hour, under the terms of the proposed Part-Time Appointment Agreement, reporting to the Principal.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, Alabama certificate eligibility, and background clearance. Expect duties across classroom instruction, policy adherence, and student support within a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Certified (or eligible for a certificate) by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area.
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Uphold school rules & Board policies.
• Support efficient operation of the school & participate in meetings and committees.
• Adhere to the Code of Ethics for teachers.
• Follow approved courses of study and materials.
• Foster citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism.
• Attend to duties before/after school hours.
• Meet assigned classes at designated locations & times.
• Create a conducive classroom environment within resource limits.
• Maintain discipline and safety in the school.
• Prepare for classes and show evidence upon request.
• Maintain records as required by law and policy.
• Evaluate student progress and act on results.
• Refer students to specialists when needed.
• Protect students and property; outside conferences by agreement.
• Be available for education-related discussions outside instructional time.
• Collaborate on school activities, goals, and methods.
• Assist in selecting books/equipment/materials.
• Participate in extracurricular activities as agreed.
• Attend faculty meetings regularly.
• Maintain professional relationships with parents/community.
• Promote good public relations for the school.
