Empower Schools of Alabama seeks an English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to support multilingual learners in achieving English language proficiency and academic success.

The role collaborates with classroom teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to ensure equitable access to instruction aligned with Alabama standards and EL program requirements. The teacher differentiates instruction and monitors progress through assessments and data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.
• Appropriate ESL certification or eligibility to obtain ESL certification.
• Knowledge of second language acquisition and English language development.
• Knowledge of culturally responsive instructional practices.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze student data and develop targeted instructional plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality English language development instruction to identified English Learners.
• Differentiate instruction based on students' English proficiency levels and academic needs.
• Develop lesson plans aligned to Alabama English Language Proficiency Standards and grade-level standards.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and supports.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on formative and summative data.
• Assist with English Learner identification, placement procedures, and record-keeping.
