Job summary

Right At School is hiring an Educator for before/after school programs at Union Ridge School district. You will lead activities, supervise students, and support homework in a structured, safe environment.

Position offers hourly pay ($17–$20) with AM/PM shifts. Ideal candidates have 1+ year experience with kids, strong communication, and reliability for part-time hours at schools.

Qualifications

• Experience with children under 13 is preferred.
• Ability to lead groups with positive guidance.
• Strong communication with children and adults.
• Reliable for consistent part-time shifts.
• Able to lift 25 lbs and stand/walk/kneel during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students at session start and take attendance.
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons.
• Facilitate homework time and assist with academic tasks.
• Supervise during free play, snack, and transitions in a safe environment.
• Address minor conflicts using positive guidance techniques.
• Communicate with parents at pick-up/drop-off and log incidents.
• Set up and clean up program space and materials daily.
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with staff.

As an Educator, you'll work directly with kids

— leading activities, facilitating a safe and structured environment, and building relationships — while gaining valuable experience in education and child development.

In short, your influence will shape kids’ futures, helping them develop the skills they need to thrive in school, at home, and beyond.

Pay Rate: $17-$20 per hour (based on education and experience)

Program Hours: Before School: 7:00am-9:00 am/ After School: 2:15pm-6:00pm

Location: Union Ridge School district

What You'll Do

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you're working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick‑up and drop‑off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred)
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part‑time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Illinois State Requirements

• First Aid and hands‑on CPR
• Cleared tuberculosis (TB) test
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
• Background Check with fingerprinting
