Job summary

Right At School is seeking an Educator to work with students at designated schools in Farmington, IL. This part-time role offers after-school hours, engaging with children through structured activities, homework support, and positive guidance in a safe environment.

You will greet students, lead activities, supervise play, and communicate with families. Candidates should have at least 1 year of youth experience and be able to lift 25 lbs and be on your feet for shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience working with children under 13.
• Ability to lead groups of children in activities and games.
• Excellent customer service and communication with children and adults.
• Reliable and punctual; commit to a part-time schedule.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and perform mobility requirements.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Willing to support additional program locations if needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment for the age group.
• Facilitate homework time and assist with academic tasks.
• Supervise during free play, snack time, and transitions.
• Address minor conflicts with positive guidance.
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up/drop-off.
• Report incidents and safety concerns promptly; log reports.
• Set up and clean program space daily.
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with staff.

Position Details

Pay Rate: $15.00-$17.00 per hour (based on education & experience)

Program Hours: Monday - Friday, 2:45 pm-6:00 pm

Location: Farmington, IL

What You’ll Do

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you're working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean‑up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We’re Looking For

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred)
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part‑time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Illinois State Requirements

• First Aid and hands‑on CPR
• Cleared tuberculosis (TB) test
• Food Handlers Card
• Proof of MMR
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
• Background Check with fingerprinting
