Job summary

Right At School is hiring an Educator at Grace Lutheran School in River Forest, IL. The role centers on guiding kids through structured activities, homework help, and safe play in a school setting.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of child experience, strong communication, and reliability for a part-time schedule that includes morning and afternoon shifts. This on-site position offers hands-on education experience and school-based hours.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred)
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

Position Details

Location: Grace Lutheran School - River Forest, IL

Educator Pay Rate: $17-20/hour (based on education and experience)

Program Hours: Mon-Fri: 6:50 AM-8:00 AM and 2:45 PM-6:00 PM, and Wednesdays: 2:00 PM-6:00 PM

We are looking for candidates who are available to work Monday through Friday for one or both shifts

What You'll Do

Illinois State Requirements

• First Aid and hands-on CPR
• Cleared tuberculosis (TB) test
• Food Handlers Card
• Proof of MMR
• 18+ years of age
