Job summary

Right At School is looking for an Educator to work directly with kids in the Dunlap School District. You’ll lead activities, facilitate a safe and structured environment, and build strong relationships while gaining experience in education and child development.

Pay is up to $18.00 per hour, with hours Monday–Friday after school, 2:30–6:00 pm (some schools vary). This part-time role offers on-site work at a school site in Illinois and opportunities to impact students daily.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13.
• Ability to lead groups of children in activities.
• Excellent customer service and communication with children and adults.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a part-time schedule.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand/walk/bend during shift.
• Work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students; take attendance.
• Plan and lead daily activities and enrichment lessons.
• Assist with homework and academic tasks.
• Supervise during free time, snack, and transitions.
• Address minor behavior issues with positive guidance.
• Communicate with parents at drop-off/pick-up.
• Log incidents and report safety concerns.
• Set up and clean program space daily.
• Attend daily team meetings.

Position Details

Pay Rate: Up to $18.00 per hour (based on education & experience)

Program Hours: Monday - Friday, 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm*, with the exception of Wednesday, 2:00pm-6:00pm

What You’ll Do

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you're working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean‑up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We’re Looking For

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred)
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part‑time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

  Illinois State Requirements

  • First Aid and hands‑on CPR
  • Cleared tuberculosis (TB) test
  • Food Handlers Card
  • Proof of MMR
  • 18+ years of age
  • Proof of High School diploma/GED required
  • Background Check with fingerprinting
