Job summary

Right At School is hiring an Educator to work directly with kids at Union Ridge School district. You will lead activities, ensure a safe, structured environment, and build positive relationships while gaining experience in education and child development.

Pay ranges from $17–$20 per hour, based on education and experience. Program hours are before and after school; join a team delivering engaging enrichment and homework support.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13.
• Ability to lead groups of children in activities and games.
• Outstanding customer service and communication with children and adults.
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel during shifts.
• Work independently and as part of a team; flexible to support locations.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students; take attendance and maintain records.
• Plan and lead daily activities and enrichment lessons for age group.
• Facilitate homework time and academic support as needed.
• Supervise during free play, snack time, and transitions safely.
• Address minor conflicts with positive guidance.
• Communicate with parents at pick-up/drop-off about the day.
• Report incidents or safety concerns to the Program Manager promptly.
• Set up and clean up program space and materials daily.
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with staff.

Pay Rate: $17-$20 per hour (based on education and experience)

Program Hours: Before School: 7:00am-9:00 am/ After School: 2:15pm-6:00pm

What You’ll Do

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you’re working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick‑up and drop‑off regarding their child’s day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We’re Looking For

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred)
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part‑time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Illinois State Requirements

• First Aid and hands‑on CPR
• Cleared tuberculosis (TB) test
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
• Background Check with fingerprinting
