Job summary

Right At School is seeking an Educator to lead after-school activities inside Lamar area schools, helping students develop academically and socially in a safe, structured environment.

As part of a part-time role, you will foster connections with students, support homework time, and collaborate with site staff to ensure smooth daily operations and engaging enrichment experiences.

Qualifications

• Six months of licensed childcare or school experience.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs; stand, walk, kneel.
• First Aid and CPR in-person (or able to obtain within 30 days)

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records.
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group.
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed.
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment.
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques.
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day.
• Log incident reports and report safety concerns to program leadership.
• Set up and clean up program space and materials daily.
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

Pay Rate: $15-$17 per hour (based education and experience)

REQUIRED Experience: Six months experience working in a licensed childcare facility or school setting with large group of children.

Program Hours: After School: 2:45 PM-6:00 PM (must be able to work Monday through Friday. Unable to accommodate partial work week shifts at this time.

Location: Located inside the Lamar area schools

Schedule: Part-time; hours may include before school, after school, recess care, and/or full-day care during breaks, depending on site needs.

Requirements:

• Ability to meet state-specific requirements;
• At least six months of work in a licensed group childcare center or school with a.large group of children.
• First Aid and CPR-in-person (if required- ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required

What We're Looking For

• At least verifiable six months of experience working with children under 13 (preferred) in a licensed childcare center or school setting
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Texas State Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 18 years of age
• Six months of previous experience in childcare in a group licensed childcare setting or school-type setting (will require verification) with a large group of children.
• Live within the listed school district area
• Fluent in English and Bilingual is a plus
