Job summary

Right At School is hiring part-time Educators to work after school in Lockhart-area schools. The role involves leading activities, maintaining a safe, structured environment, and building relationships with students.

Pay is $15–$17 per hour, based on education and experience. Schedule typically 3:00 PM–6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with opportunities for additional site needs; no weekends. Training provided and on-site at multiple campuses in the Lockhart area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 18 years old.
• Six months of childcare or similar group setting experience.
• Must live within the listed school district area.
• Fluent in English; bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session and take attendance.
• Plan and lead daily activities and enrichment lessons for the age group.
• Assist with homework time and academic tasks as needed.
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions.
• Address minor conflicts with positive guidance and communicate with guardians.

Part-time positions are available for our after-school youth staff, whom we call our Educators!

Pay Rate: $15-$17 per hour (based on education and experience)

Program Hours: After School: 3:00 PM-6:00 PM (must be able to work Monday through Friday). Unable to accommodate partial work week shifts at this time. NO WEEKENDS!

Schedule: Part-time; hours may include before school, after school, recess care, and/or full-day care during breaks, depending on site needs.

Location: Located inside the Lockhart area schools (school site will depend on staffing needs per location and must be willing to work at any locations as needed).

Texas State Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 18 years of age
• Six months of previous experience in childcare in a group licensed childcare setting or school-type setting (will require verification). Must be verifiable
• Live within the listed school district area
• Fluent in English; bilingual is a plus

What You'll Do

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you're working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We're Looking For

• At least six months of experience working with children under 13 (preferred) in a licensed childcare center or school setting
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed
