Job summary

Right At School is seeking part-time on-call Educators in Evanston, IL to support before/after school and related programs. You will work with elementary school children, lead activities, assist with homework, and ensure a safe, structured environment.

The role requires reliability, 1+ year of child interaction, and strong communication. Pay ranges from $16 to $19 per hour and varies by education and experience. Training and schedule flexibility offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience with children preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Able to commit to a part-time, on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students, take attendance and maintain records.
• Plan and lead daily activities and enrichment lessons.
• Support homework tasks and provide guidance.
• Supervise children during transitions and play.
• Communicate with parents at pickup/drop-off about the day.
• Set up and clean up each session and attend brief team meetings.

This is a part time, on call as needed substitute position.

Right At School provides Before & After School, Summer Camp, and Break Camp programs at 1,200+ schools across the country. Our programs deliver hands‑on enrichment activities, homework support, active play, social‑emotional learning, and more - all guided by a mission to inspire a love of learning, support schools, and give families peace of mind.

As an Educator, you'll work directly with kids

In short, your influence will shape kids' futures, helping them develop the skills they need to thrive in school, at home, and beyond.

Pay Rate: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour (based on education and experience)

Program Hours: Monday - Friday Before School: 6:45AM-9:00AM / After School: 3:15PM-6:00PM

Location: Evanston, IL

What You'll Do

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you're working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred)
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Illinois State Requirements

• First Aid and hands‑on CPR
• Cleared tuberculosis (TB) test
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
• Background Check with fingerprinting
