Job summary

Central Point School District 6 seeks an Educational Assistant III to support teachers and assist special needs students at Jewett Elementary. The role emphasizes small-group instruction, life-skills activities, and daily classroom support in a 184-day calendar.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, plus potential for an Associate degree or two years post-high school; training in restraints; background check; and English literacy. 5.75 hours/day, $18.80–$22.60/hr.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (waiver possible).
• One of: an Associate degree, two years post-high school, or passing district assessment.
• General knowledge of English language arts and mathematics.
• Must complete student restraint training within 30 days of hire.
• Willing to participate in training and obtain additional certifications.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to read, write, understand and follow multi-step English instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing classroom activities planned by the Teacher.
• Work directly with special needs students, providing life-skills practice.
• Support nutritional, health and communication needs of students.
• Assist in physical management, including lifting and positioning.
• Escort and supervise students in various settings (lunch, PE, library, recess).
• Assist in administering materials, proctor assessments and tracking records.
• Support IEP meetings and data tracking.
