Job summary

The New York Times Company is seeking a part-time temporary editor to join Wirecutter's discovery team. You will edit stories from staff writers and collaborate with cross-team partners to publish.

You should storytell powerfully, coach writers thoughtfully, and work hands-on with editors as well as a people manager. This role offers a remote work possibility and ~15–20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience at a media company with at least one year of experience editing writers.
• Experience editing writers and coaching junior editors.
• Ability to manage multiple articles and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Edit and revise multiple articles and other content with different writers; manage deadlines and process; review writers' notes; work with senior editors to ensure standards.
• Collaborate with fact checkers, copy editors, and producers to prepare pieces for publication.
• Coordinate with photo editors to plan photography for stories.
• Perform related work as assigned.
• Support and uphold journalistic independence and our mission to seek the truth.
• Report to the Editorial Director.
