Job Description

ANTICIPATED START DATE: As soon as possible

LOCATIONS: Affton Early Childhood Center (AECC)

DETAILS: 9.5-month support staff position, part-time 20 hours per week, no fringe benefits. Work schedule is 11:30AM-3:30PM M-F. This part-time position may work in a co-taught early childhood classroom.

COMPENSATION: According to the Support Staff Pay Schedule within the Certified Staff Assistant and Staff Assistant ranges. Those with a Teaching Certification will begin on Level G, Step 1starting at $20.96 hourly. Those with a Substitute Certification will begin on Level B, Step 1 starting at $16.74 hourly. Placement within the ranges on the 2026-27 Support Staff Pay Schedule are determined by like experience and education.

JOB SUMMARY: To assist the administration by providing support to school educational programs through providing appropriate classroom supports, activities and learning environment in order that students may learn effectively and experience a smoothly functioning program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• In addition to a high school diploma, one of the following is required to obtain a Substitute Certification:
• 60 college credit hours
• Associate’s degree or higher
• Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013)
• Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (after September 23, 2013), or
• Completed Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program
• Missouri Teaching Certification preferred.
• Experience working in a school setting preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, email, etc is preferred.
• Experience working with office equipment preferred.
• Excellent attendance.
• The ability to listen well and respond to questions from students in a professional manner is required.
• The ability to redirect and interact positively with students is required.
• The ability to work independently, use good judgment, think quickly, and respond to situations in a calm, caring manner is required.
• The ability to remain flexible & positive with the demands of the job without losing sight of the mission, task or assignment is required.
• The ability to work as a team player, communicate and collaborate with staff is required.
• The ability to develop effective working relationships with students and the school community is required.
• The ability to work with a multi-ethnic, multicultural student population is required.
• The willingness to learn new material and, as needed, attend professional development is required.
