Job summary

Commonpoint Queens is seeking a Part Time Assistant Teacher to support the Early Childhood Center. You will work with a teaching team under the Head Teacher and Director, serving children ages 2-5 in a class of up to 18.

Schedule is 19 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, in Forest Hills, NY. Responsibilities include assisting with curriculum and classroom management, maintaining records, and communicating with parents.

Qualifications

• Must be over age 18 and have High School degree.
• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred or 2 years of preschool classroom experience.
• Knowledge of Early Childhood development and curricula.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with Articles 47 standards and childcare regulations.
• Experience with diverse populations and families.
• Bilingual ability in English and Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Group Teacher to provide a safe, healthy environment for development.
• Maintain parent communication through meetings, newsletters, and conferences.
• Keep records on children and families current, complete, and confidential.
• Demonstrate nurturing, respectful relationships with children and families.
• Supervise an assigned group of children at all times.
• Complete tasks and projects and maintain open dialogue with teachers and director.
• Assist in keeping the facility clean and safe for children and parents.
• Model professional conduct and participate in training opportunities.

Education

High School Diploma

Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education Preferred

New York State Certified Teacher’s Assistant Credential Desired

Current CPR/First Aid Certification Preferred
