Job summary

YMCA of Pawtucket is seeking a part-time Teacher Assistant to support early childhood education. You will help plan, prepare, and implement the classroom curriculum in alignment with Rhode Island standards under the guidance of the Early Childhood Director and Lead Teacher.

The role involves maintaining health and safety, documenting attendance, and assisting with family engagement activities. CPR/First Aid readiness and RI credential goals are part of the position.

Qualifications

• The Teacher Assistant shall have a minimum of a Teacher Assistant Certification or 9 college credits in early childhood education.
• Three months experience working in a classroom environment.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid within 3 months of hire.
• Obtain or begin the requirements to obtain the RIELDS certificate within 9 months of hire.
• Meet all DCYF and YMCA Employment qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing the classroom curriculum using RI Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS).
• Establish a warm and professional rapport with children and families.
• Maintain health and safety standards in the classroom.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Greet families and children as they enter or exit the classroom or building.
• Follow daily lesson plans in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
