Job summary

YMCA Akron seeks an Assistant Teacher to support lead teachers in caring for children in our classroom, ensuring safety and learning aligned with our values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.

You will help with meals, snacks and naptime, assist with behavior guidance, maintain accurate records for licensing and funding, and participate in required trainings within the first 30 days and ongoing 20 hours every 2 years.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required or equivalent per state guidelines.
• FBI and BCI background checks required.
• ODJFS orientation within 90 days of starting employment.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record if driving YMCA vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with meals, snacks and naptime.
• Maintain a safe and clean classroom and center at all times.
• Assist with guidance of children’s behavior and learning.
• Maintain licensing and funding records as required.
• Attend required trainings within the first 30 days and 20+ hours every 2 years.
• Follow emergency policies and ensure classroom appearance and safety.
