Job summary

YAI is seeking a creative, passionate Direct Support Professional (DSP 2) for Community Habilitation in the Bronx. You will provide one-on-one supports to people with I/DD, teaching life skills and promoting community integration to empower independence.

This part-time role runs 3pm–8:30pm, involves supervision, documentation, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care and engagement in activities and community access.

Qualifications

• Two years of DSP 1 experience in a YAI program or equivalent.
• Foundational certifications: SCIP-R, CPR, AMAP for residential or Day Services.
• Must maintain certifications; 18+ years old; 3 years direct support experience with I/DD when changing settings.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands including lifting/moving individuals and handling emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and care for individuals; promote independence.
• Assist with ADLs and personal hygiene.
• Implement Behavior Support Plan and deescalate crises.
• Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and communicate with families/providers.
• Complete documentation and data entry in electronic systems; maintain logs.
