Job summary

YAI seeks a Direct Support Professional - DSP 2 for Community Habilitation in Brooklyn. The role provides one-on-one supports to people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, teaching life skills and promoting community integration to empower independence.

Part-time position, 16-20 hours per week, with afternoon hours (3pm–8:30pm). You will follow individualized service plans and behavior support plans while ensuring health, safety and person-centered care.

Qualifications

• Experience providing one-on-one supports to people with IDD.
• Ability to implement individualized service plans and BSPs.
• Flexible scheduling with afternoon hours.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties of DSP 1, ensuring supervision, protection and care of individuals.
• Supports individuals in maximizing strengths and abilities while upholding rights.
• Provides health, wellness and safety supervision across settings.
• Deescalates crises and directs DSP 1s following policies and regulations.
• Models professional conduct and maintains a safe, clean therapeutic environment.
• Assists with activities of daily living as appropriate.
