Job summary

Goodwill Industries of South Central California seeks a Part-Time Material Handler I at the Taft store. You will receive donations, transport, sort, select and display merchandise in support of our mission and customer service standards.

This role requires lifting up to 70 pounds, assisting with pricing, tagging, salvage prep, and maintaining a clean donation area and sales floor. You will work under the Retail Store Manager and contribute to the store's daily operations.

Qualifications

• Minimal ability to read and write.
• Prior customer service experience is a plus.
• Ability to present information to groups and respond to questions with tact, courtesy and cooperativeness.
• Effective interpersonal and communications skills to interact with all levels of management and staff.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment and use common devices.

Responsibilities

• Receive donations and transport, sort, display merchandise.
• Move and display merchandise; lift up to 70 pounds.
• Tag textiles, price wares, shoes, and furniture; distribute to sales floor.
• Receive and process donated goods; issue receipts; lift up to 70 pounds.
• Keep records of daily activities, counts, and reports in a neat manner.
• Maintain cleanliness of donation area and store; assist with housekeeping tasks.
• Cooperatively cover coworkers' break times and work as a team.
• Prepare salvage items and wrap bulky furniture for transportation.
• Build furniture for sales floor placement.
• Assist pricing items following company policies.
• Open/close activities; ensure store readiness and safety.
• Follow Safety and Loss Prevention policies.
