Job summary

Braverhood is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist a person with disabilities in the home and community in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Bilingual Spanish/English speakers are welcome. Hours are primarily weekday afternoons and/or weekends.

The role involves promoting independence, coordinating with case supervisors on goals, and documenting progress. Reliable transportation and timely attendance are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with the special needs community, especially children/young adults, in community settings.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Must complete online DSP training after hire.
• Punctual and dependable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Foster a positive environment for individuals to be successful in achieving personal goals (i.e. social interactions and other activities of daily living).
• Work closely with Case Supervisors on monthly goals and plans of action.
• Document services rendered and client progress on a daily and monthly basis.
• Provide support for individuals with various developmental disabilities in the home and within the community.
• Attend mandatory staff meeting and training once a year.
• Submit all paperwork and monthly summaries on time.
• Adhere to all agency and OPWDD regulations.
