Job summary

You Thrive Florida is seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation for children, staff, and volunteers at Brooksville Head Start in Brooksville, FL. The role follows USDA and Head Start guidelines, ensuring proper food handling, allergy management, and accurate meal counts.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00am to 1:00pm, with PTO and 14 paid holidays. A Safe Serve certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience required.
• Valid Florida driver's license and be insurable; must obtain Safe Serve certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation per USDA and Head Start requirements.
• Receive and store food items according to safe food handling procedures.
• Receive and store paper products and kitchen supplies per DCF guidelines.
• Conduct a weekly food and supply inventory.
• Perform food preparation in compliance with temperature and sanitation guidelines.
• Follow USDA guidelines for allergies and substitute foods.
