Job summary

Mid Florida Community Services, Inc. is seeking a part-time Head Start Kitchen Assistant in Brooksville, FL.

You will help prepare meals, assist with food handling, and support classroom activities with staff and volunteers. The role requires a high school diploma, no prior experience, a Florida driver’s license, and Safe Serve certification within 90 days; passion for child nutrition and USDA guideline compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• No experience required.
• Must obtain Safe Serve certification within 90 days of employment.
• Valid Florida driver’s license and be insurable by the current carrier.
• Background checks/clearance for working with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation following USDA/Head Start requirements.
• Receive and store food, paper products, and kitchen supplies per guidelines.
• Conduct weekly food and supply inventory.
• Assist in maintaining sanitation and safe food handling procedures.
• Record daily meal counts for children, staff, and volunteers.
• Deliver meals to classrooms as needed and monitor serving portions.
