Job summary

Finger Lakes Community College invites applications for a part-time DEI Specialist to support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives under the Chief Diversity Officer. The role focuses on developing programs, trainings, and activities that engage underrepresented student populations and enhance campus life.

You will coordinate monthly programs, monitor marketing materials, and collaborate with the Center for Student Involvement and other units.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred; at least 36 credit hours must be completed from an accredited institution.
• One year of experience working with students in a college setting.
• Experience working with students of color and underrepresented populations strongly desired.
• Experience with large event planning is strongly desired.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with College departments and other entities.
• Background in social media and promotion/marketing.
• Knowledgeable of student leadership development delivery methods and student engagement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Advises/mentors designated diversity, equity, and inclusion student organizations and student groups on campus in consultation with the Chief Diversity Officer.
• Monitors website and office publications for effectiveness and efficiency, including social media related to DEI programs.
• Attends regional and local trainings and conferences with student staff.
• Develops, coordinates and implements a minimum of 10 DEI programs per academic year focused on topics such as social identity and inclusion.
• Assists with the implementation of a college-wide student development program for underrepresented student populations and student leaders.
• Serves as a mentor to students in co-curricular programs and supports underrepresented populations.
