Job summary

Oswegoland Park District is seeking a part-time Dance Instructor for the Boulder Point facility in Montgomery, IL. The role reports to the Recreation Supervisor – Dance and requires leading multiple dance classes, creating lesson plans, and assisting with recitals and marketing efforts.

Ideal candidates will have a preferred degree in Dance Education or 2+ years of teaching experience and can work independently or as part of the dance staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Preferred degree in Dance Education and/or experience of at least two years as a dance instructor.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member of the dance staff.

Responsibilities

• Instruct various style dance classes such as pre ballet, hip hop, and jazz for various levels and age according to program curriculum and prepare lesson plans.
• Ability to create choreography, select appropriate music, and assist at dance recitals.
• Ability to evaluate dance participants and make recommendations for improvement.
• Train, supervise, and motivate participants by being creative, positive, and enthusiastic.
• Communicate with dance participants and parents.
• Meet deadlines on costume forms, dancer evaluations, availability forms and other administrative requests.
• Assisting in marketing and promoting the dance program.
• Ability to teach various levels from beginner to advanced.
