Job summary

St Charles Park District in St. Charles, IL is seeking experienced Dance Instructors for the upcoming season from September 2026 through May 2027. The role involves teaching multiple dance styles to participants of various ages at Pottawatomie Community Center.

Candidates should have at least five years of dance experience and one year of teaching. A High School Diploma or in progress, safety certifications, and excellent communication are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or in progress.
• Minimum five years’ experience in dance.
• Minimum one year teaching experience.
• Must enjoy working with children.
• Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Maintain DCFS mandated reporter certificate or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Teach dance skills to students of all levels in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and/or hip hop.
• Create and implement lesson plans appropriate to program level and participant’s abilities.
• Maintain attendance and progress records.
• Select and organize music and dances for annual recital and instructional classes.
• Develop choreography for dance annual recital, winter showcase, seasonal classes, and other performances.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently or with limited direction; anticipate needs for success of the dance program.
• Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with patrons, parents, and other affiliates.
• Recognize, report, and respond to any unsafe conditions, and possible hazards.
