Job summary

Park District of Oak Park in Oak Park, IL is seeking a part-time Assistant Dance Instructor to support class sessions and assist the lead instructor. You will help with education, technique, safety, and participant engagement, while maintaining facility cleanliness and equipment organization.

You should be organized, communicate effectively, and be able to work with youth in a recreation/arts setting. Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED within 1 month is required, along with Mandated Reporter

Qualifications

• Certification in CPR, First Aid and AED within 1 month of employment and kept current.
• Must obtain Mandated Reporter Certification.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be organized, responsible, professional, and able to proactively communicate.
• Recommended: 2 years of dance experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide education to students; classes vary between 1–24 weeks and meet weekly.
• Guide and develop participants’ technique and artistry.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and store equipment properly on site.
• Monitor safety and communicate with parents about progress when needed.
• Enforce rules, attend staff meetings and trainings, and follow park district policies.
• Know detailed lesson plans and keep participants active, safe, and engaged.
• Address behavioral issues with the Program Supervisor/Coordinator.
• Complete paperwork and reports as required.
