The State of Vermont is seeking a part-time Custodian I to maintain cleanliness in public facilities. This position involves various cleaning tasks, physical labor, and may require outdoor work in differing weather conditions. BGS is hiring for a Custodian I position with the Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS), averaging 8-16 hours per week.

This position, Part-Time Custodian I (Job Requisition #52788), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.
No specific education and experience required.
Some positions in this class require valid driver's license, and own transportation for travel between work locations.
A criminal record check and/or child abuse registry check may be required for some positions within this class based on the locations where duties are to be performed.
