Job summary

Seattle University’s Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons seeks a Part-Time Temporary Copy Cataloger to catalog physical items from two major gift collections, primarily in Ex Libris Alma. The role focuses on importing records from NZ to IZ and ensuring accurate, discoverable holdings in Primo VE.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of academic library copy cataloging experience, strong MARC editing skills, and familiarity with OCLC searching and LCC classifications.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree is required; library science coursework or database maintenance is preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience handling copy cataloging workflows in an academic library.
• Hands-on experience with Ex Libris Alma Metadata Editor for single-record imports and IZ/NZ management.
• Proficiency with MARC21, OCLC WorldCat searching, and Library of Congress Classification standards.

Responsibilities

• Search the Institutional Zone and Network Zone to identify duplicates and link, match, and copy records according to policy.
• Import bibliographic records from OCLC using Connexion or WorldShare following consortium rules.
• Edit and upgrade MARC records to current standards (RDA, LCSH) as needed.
• Create and update physical holdings and item records, including barcodes, locations, and call numbers.
