Job summary

Seattle University seeks a creative and collaborative Part-Time Temporary Copy Cataloger to focus on the physical copy cataloging of two major gift collections for Lemieux and Cornish Libraries. The role operates primarily in Ex Libris Alma, importing and adapting records to ensure accurate, discoverable holdings in Primo VE.

The successful candidate will have strong technical cataloging skills, experience in shared bibliographic environments, and the ability to work independently while ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; MLS/MLIS or enrollment preferred.
• 1–2 years of copy cataloging experience in an academic library.
• Hands-on Alma experience and managing IZ/NZ workflows.
• Proficiency with MARC21, OCLC WorldCat, and LCC standards.
• Experience with OCLC import and RDA/LCSH standards.
• Experience in a shared library consortium is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Copy cataloging and import into Ex Libris Alma.
• Identify duplicates across IZ and NZ across Cornish and Lemieux.
• Link and copy records between IZ and NZ per policy.
• Import records from OCLC via Connexion or WorldShare.
• Edit MARC records to comply with RDA and LCSH.
• Verify LC classification and local call numbers.
• Route records requiring original cataloging or preservation review.
• Physical processing and inventory maintenance.
• Create and update holdings and item records with barcodes and locations.
• Track processing statistics and coordinate with staff.
