Job summary

Appledorn Assisted Living Center South is seeking cooks to prepare and serve meals for residents. The shift runs from 6:00am to 2:30pm, with a schedule that includes every other weekend and rotating holidays. Positions available for both full-time and part-time roles.

Candidates should have cooking experience and knowledge of sanitary food handling. Training and orientation are provided. Responsibilities include setting up meals, cooking breakfast and lunch, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and

• Knowledge of sanitary food handling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Set up breakfast for residents and cook made-to-order breakfast.
• Prepare and cook the lunch meal for residents.
• Set up and clean up after meals.
• Monitor temperatures and ensure food is served at proper temperatures.
• Report any equipment malfunctions to Chef and Shift Supervisor.
• Complete required documentation of temperatures and foods used.

Qualifications:

Experience and training in cooking, applicable certification. Knowledge of sanitary food handling techniques.

Scope and Purpose:

• Comply with policies and procedures of this living center, as well as state and local rules and guidelines.


• Preparation of all foods and beverages for meals, within guidelines of menu, policy, procedure, and regulations. Assures food is served properly, at the correct temperatures and in an appetizing manner.


• Monitors food/plates that are returned to the kitchen. Communicate appropriate information to Chef and Shift Supervisor.


• Properly completes required documentation of temperatures, foods used etc.


• Immediately reports any malfunction in equipment or physical plant.


• Properly utilizes food, supplies, and equipment to assure minimal waste, damage or theft.


• Other duties as assigned or as may be necessary to assure that the goals and objectives of this living center are fulfilled.
