Remote Construction Project Manager (Customer Operations & Delivery)

Part-Time | Remote (U.S.) | Commercial GC Experience Required

About LinkedField

LinkedField helps General Contractors scale their project teams by providing experienced remote construction professionals on a part-time, project-based basis.

The LinkedField Community is a network of vetted Construction Project Managers who support active projects across submittals, change orders, closeout, and subcontractor coordination. Remote Construction PMs are staffed onto projects based on client demand, experience, and availability.

As part of LinkedField, you will work directly with General Contractor teams, taking ownership of subcontractor coordination, document management, and project workflows across multiple projects over time. This is a project-based role. Work is assigned based on active project demand, and candidates may support different projects over time.

The Role

This is not a traditional PM role and not a pure customer facing role.

As a Remote Construction Project Manager, you will:

Do the work (get documents approved – submittals, change orders, closeout, etc.)
Own the customer relationship and with subcontractors
Project delivery end-to-end using LinkedField’s internal tools
Be accountable for outcomes, metrics, problem solving and client satisfaction

This role is best suited for experienced GC PMs/APMs who want ownership, autonomy, and remote flexibility—and who enjoy unblocking complex problems on projects and driving them to completion.

Types of LinkedField Projects/Clients

LinkedField works with mid-size to large commercial General Contractors, on mid/large/multi-phase/complex projects. These project teams run into “emergency” situations where they need additional resources from LinkedField, examples are as follows:

At the start of the project

Manage the buyout process for certain trades
Set up the onboarding log, and get onboarding documents approved
Set up the submittal log, and get submittals approved

During a project

Provide coverage for a GC team member on leave
Help manage the procurement process for the GC PM
Get change orders approved by the owner
Drawing Review (bulletins/ASI’s/drawing revisions) and associated coordination (submittal revisions, change orders, etc.)

At the end of the project

Project closeout with the owner
Financial closeout with subcontractors/owner

At the beginning of the project, the LinkedField team will work with the client to determine the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goal for the project. The performance of the Remote Project Manager will be based on the identified SMART project goals.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

1. Project Execution (Hands‑On)

Manage submittals, change order pricing, closeout, billing, RFIs, and logs
Review drawings, specs, and construction documents
Coordinate directly with subcontractors, architects, owners, subcontractors and GC teams
Make frequent outbound calls and follow-ups to unblock work
Ensure project documentation meets entitlement and quality standards

2. Customer Ownership & Communication

Lead weekly check‑ins and progress reviews
Proactively identify risks, delays, and bottlenecks
Communicate clearly, professionally, and with urgency
Ensure customers consistently see value from LinkedField
Let the customer (and LinkedField) know about your out of office, holidays, etc.
Act as the primary point of contact for assigned GC customers

3. Delivery Oversight & Quality Control

Own delivery across multiple project stakeholders at once
Track progress, deadlines, and utilization
Ensure work advances to approval
Step in directly when deliverables are in jeopardy
Keep LinkedField “Project To Do List” up to date

4. Platform & Process Ownership

Use LinkedField’s internal systems (software automation, dashboards, reporting tools)
Produce weekly metrics and performance updates for the SMART goals
Maintain accurate project logs and reporting
Continuously improve workflows as the platform scales
Work cross‑functionally with LinkedField Operations, Sales, and Leadership
Help onboard new customers and scopes of work (create guidance manuals, share with other LinkedField team members, etc.)
Look for additional opportunities to increase LinkedField’s scope of work on the project and execute them with the GC team
Contribute feedback to improve LinkedField’s service model and technology

6. Availability and Billable Hours

Minimum of 10 hours per week, with capacity to increase up to 20+ hours per week.
Hit the minimum hours per week, typically 10 hours per week to start each project
Grow the scope on the project; obtain additional scopes of work from the GC in order to increase your hours/compensation throughout the project.
If you do good work, clients will want you to do more work
Minimum 6 month time commitment to work with a GC company, likely to work on 2-3 project teams

7. Time Management and Meetings

Responsive during project team business hours (“Available” for client’s business hours/timezones)
Attend GC weekly meetings pertinent to LinkedField scope (staff meeting, subcontractor meeting, change order meeting, schedule meeting, etc.)
Attend weekly check‑in meetings with LinkedField Operations Manager during project onboarding phase prior to hitting project deliverable metrics (approx 1 month onboarding)
Attend regular check‑in meetings with LinkedField Operations Manager when project deliverable metrics are met (bi‑weekly or monthly)
Attend monthly meetings with LinkedField team with new project and technology initiatives
LinkedField Operations Manager/Sales will meet with the GC PX & PM to obtain feedback regularly

Required Experience

5+ years at a mid‑size to large commercial General Contractor (U.S.) as a PM/APM/Sr. PE and 3+ years of related construction experience
Prior experience reporting directly to a CEO/VP/PX
Strong experience with submittals, change orders, and document control
Comfort managing multiple projects simultaneously
Strong written, verbal, and stakeholder communication skills
Familiarity with project management tools like Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, PlanGrid, Viewpoint, Helix and other software the customer GC would use.

Nice to Have

Prior experience mentoring and overseeing junior PMs/PEs
Prior experience jumping in on projects to provide assistance (you were not working on this project from start to finish)
Experience with GMP and/or lump‑sum delivery methods

Compensation & Benefits – Rate

$25/hr to $45/hr
