Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. is seeking a motivated Estimating Intern to join our team as a part-time student worker.

Gain hands-on experience in construction estimating while balancing academic commitments, working alongside experienced estimators on project bids. This internship offers exposure to estimating software, cost estimation, and bid proposal preparation, with opportunities to learn from cross-functional teams and contribute to project success.

Qualifications

• Enrolled student in engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of estimating concepts is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with estimating software (InEight, HeavyBid, HCSS, Bid2Win, Agtek, Planswift, Bluebeam) is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cost estimates by reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documents to help determine scope of work and costs.
• Bid proposal support: help perform takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals under supervision.
• Cross-team collaboration with other departments to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.
• Cost monitoring: assist in tracking and analyzing project costs and flag potential cost overruns.
• Communication: communicate regularly with crew members, subcontractors, and team members to support project schedules and budgets.
• Follow safety protocols and wear protective gear during site visits.
• Learn and develop skills with on-the-job learning opportunities and exposure to estimating software.
