Job summary

The Village of Orland Park is seeking responsible, enthusiastic field crew members for the evening and weekend shifts in the Athletics Division of the Recreation department. You will care for Humphrey and Centennial fields, working outdoors to maintain turf, install sod, mow, and prepare play areas.

This part-time role runs March through November, up to 29 hours weekly, with availability required seven days a week. Illinois Driver’s License is required.

Opportunity at a Glance

The Village of Orland Park's Athletics Division of our Recreation department maintains over 600 acres of park space to meet the needs of residents and visitors of all ages including maintaining 60 village parks, over 30 miles of trails, 139 athletic fields/courts, and approximately 300 acres of open space acquired through the Village Open Lands of Orland Park program. The Recreation department is seeking responsible, enthusiastic, and dedicated individuals to join the evening and weekend field crews as Part-Time Complex Attendant II.

Key Responsibilities

This position is responsible for fields operations at Humphrey and Centennial fields and is primarily responsible for maintaining the Recreation and Parks department facilities and sports fields, ensuring a positive experience for all field and game operations. Duties include general maintenance tasks at our outdoor facilities and athletic fields, performing restoration and maintenance of turf areas, installation, mowing and treatment of sod, laying out athletic fields and play areas as well as acting as lead driver for appropriate vehicle and vehicle/trailer combinations for assigned work locations.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

A valid Illinois Driver’s License is required. Minimum of 2-4 years of prior athletic grounds management experience and general field maintenance knowledge is preferred. This is a part-time position generally scheduled evenings and weekends during the field season from March through November. Generally scheduled up to 29 hours per week on a regular basis. Must be available 7 days per week. This work is primarily performed outdoors, and hours will be adjusted by management during inclement weather.

Compensation & Benefits

This is an IMRF eligible position.

Hourly pay rate is $18.42 - $22.81, depending on experience and qualifications.
