Job summary

The Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library is seeking a part-time Public Services Specialist who delivers high-quality customer service, connects with the community, and supports information, reading, and technology needs in person, by phone, and online.

You will plan and present programs, assist with locating materials, troubleshoot issues, and help ensure a welcoming environment while adhering to library policies. This role requires organizational skills and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of customer service experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of learning resources and databases.
• Strong research, critical thinking and analysis.
• Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality customer service and assist with materials, digital resources, and services.
• Instruct on locating, reserving, and checking out materials and services.
• Plan and present in-person and virtual programs for the community.
• Maintain scheduled hours and ensure a welcoming, policy-compliant environment.
