Description
Position Summary
As a Part-Time CNC Machinist at Superior Tire & Rubber Corp., you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes and/or mills to produce both new and established parts in accordance with defined specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.
This position requires the ability to independently perform machine setups, manage tooling, upload and download CNC programs, and inspect finished product to ensure dimensional requirements are met. The CNC Machinist is also responsible for maintaining accurate production records and supporting the efficient operation of the assigned work cell.
Schedule
This is a part-time, 3rd shift position, generally scheduled for 20–30 hours per week. Work will be performed during established 3rd shift operating hours, with specific days and hours determined based on production needs and the employee's agreed-upon availability.
Candidates must be able to maintain consistent and reliable attendance for their established schedule. Additional hours may be available based on production requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
- You must take full ownership of your workspace working as safe and efficient as possible.
- You must have an elevated attention to detail. Things don’t just go unnoticed in your work cell and on the parts leaving your work cell. Action must be taken to ensure improvement.
- You must have a positive mental attitude and be willing to adapt to new situations/parts/machines/technology/people, etc.
- Work closely with team members, supervision, and other departments to achieve production goals. An example would be a hot job that may need heightened awareness when it’s ready to move to the next department.
- Communicate effectively with relevant personnel when it comes to your work cell whether it’s problems, improvements, what’s working and what isn’t working. This includes training of operators and sharing knowledge.
- You must have complete understanding of sound machining techniques. This includes being in tune with your machine knowing all tools are as rigid as possible and in sync. All work holding is acceptable knowing there is very limited risk of a part coming loose.
- You must have self-aware and willing to continuously improve your skills and knowledge.
- Cross train in other work cells within department.
- Understand Engineering Change Request (ECR) and work with Group leader to submit them.
- Understand Mold tooling work orders (MTWO’s) and work with group leaders to submit them.
- This requires an expanded skillset from workspace to the entire department. Having the ability to take ownership of any cell within that department.

Required and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience
- Required to take HI-Ed Machinist course at the Adult Ed
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills and ability to use measuring tools.
- Physical ability to lift and move materials as needed.
