The Weld Fabricator supports mold manufacturing by fabricating, welding, finishing, and repairing metal components used in mold builds and related production support activities. This position reads and interprets blueprints and technical drawings, prepares materials, operates welding and fabrication equipment, verifies fit and weld quality, and follows all safety, quality, and production requirements to deliver reliable mold components. The role also collaborates with supervisors, engineers, welders, fabricators, and other team members to resolve fabrication issues and complete assigned work accurately and on schedule.
Essential Job Functions:
Welding / Fabrication
- Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, or other approved welding processes to join and repair metal components.
- Cut, shape, and assemble parts to create structures or parts according to technical specifications.
- Prepare, fit, tack, and assemble metal components for welding according to build requirements.
- Grind, smooth, and polish welded surfaces to remove excess material and ensure a clean finish.
Blueprint Interpretation / Measuring and Layout
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the dimensions and specifications of the project.
- Use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, squares, etc.) to ensure accuracy in cutting and welding.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with other team members, project managers, and engineers to meet project specifications.
- Communicate build status, quality concerns, material needs, and safety issues promptly to the supervisor or appropriate team member.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Full Time Non-Exempt
- Monday through Friday
- Required to work onsite 100% of the time.
Travel:
- Limited travel in the Warren area
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, tools, welding equipment, sparks, heat, noise, fumes, and required personal protective equipment.
- Percentage of Office - 3%
- Percentage of Travel - 2%
- Percentage of Manufacturing and Distribution - 95%

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
- Occasional heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Required Education and Experience:
- Proven experience as a welder/fabricator in a manufacturing, mold-making, or similar industrial environment.
- Proficient in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.) and fabricating processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and dimensional specifications.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, measuring instruments, welding equipment, and fabrication tools.
- Good problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify fit, finish, dimensions, and weld quality against specifications.
- Motivated to learn new skills and develop additional welding, fabrication, and problem-solving abilities.
