Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Nursing Assistant (Part-Time) at Pocahontas State Correctional Center to deliver quality nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team. The role supports inmates with daily living activities in a safe, therapeutic environment.

This wage position runs May 1 through April 30 and is limited to 1,500 hours per agency per year, with a maximum of 29 hours weekly. A VA CNA license is required; BLS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess Virginia CNA license via board of nursing.
• Knowledge of patient care and infection control.
• CPR certified and able to perform CPR.
• Ability to communicate effectively and manage time.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Assists with ADLs for inmates with safety and accountability.
• Observes and reports interventions and patient needs.
• Supports mental and physical health needs of inmates.
• May be assigned to other duties or locations as needed.
